FOR SALE:  Here is a lot of 4 Wahl Doric fountain pens and one matching mechanical pencil.  Not one of these items shows the slightest signs of crystallization or deterioriation, and all caps thread on nicely.  All of the pens have been cleaned up lightly, flushed, nibs rinsed, sacs replaced, and are now ready-to-write, but none has been polished.  I've provided a picture of the entire lot with the pens capped, and additional pictures showing details of each of the pens and pencil.  Every picture can be "clicked" to see a larger version, and some browsers will indicate a "plus" sign even on the larger image, indicating that the image can be clicked again to provide even further enlargement.  Use your browser's "back" button to return to this page.  I would prefer to sell all 5 items as a lot, and will wait a few days for someone to say they want them all.  After several days, if no one wants the lot, I'll start selling the individual pens to the first person who "reserved" the individual item(s).  Go ahead, check 'em out!

First up is a Wahl Doric fountain pen in the lined green shell pattern.  The pen is 5-1/8" long, and has an ambered but transparent visulated section with a firm F nib with good iridium.  This pen is not a Gold Seal model, and has the lesser cap band and non-roller clip.  The trim is all gold filled.  The cap band is moderately brassed, and the clip has high point brassing, but the fill lever has little if any brassing.  The visulated portion has a number of stress marks which don't go all the way through, nor leak, and the barrel has a number of visible dings and marks (in addition to many fine scratches), as if it had lived in a drawer with many hard objects.  There's also a stress mark or very thin crack to the right side of the clip as you face it, extending down just less than an inch to the breather hole(doesn't go all the way to the clip mounting, and is really thin down by the breather hole).

Next is a Wahl Doric Gold Seal fountain pen in black.  The pen is just over 5-3/8" long, with a flexible Gold Seal Signature Personal Point M nib with good iridium.  The feed is marked "M", and both tines of the nib have a bend near the tip which ought to be burnished.  The Gold Seal is intact and not drilled, and the pen has the "lattice" cap band and roller clip typical of the earlier version of the Doric.  The trim is all gold filled.  The cap band is moderately brassed, the clip has just a touch of high point brassing, and the fill lever has moderate high point brassing.  The cap lip has a virtually typical chunk out of it, which is why the later produced pens had "full metal jacket" cap bands.  This pen has some rounding of the panels near the bottom of the fill lever, where the cap was posted hard and nervously rotated around the barrel.  Also, the very bottom end of the barrel has been slightly blunted, perhaps by being dropped.  This pen only shows 2 or 3 teethmarks, in addition to many fine scratches).

Next is a Wahl Doric Gold Seal fountain pen in the lined garnet shell pattern.  The pen is just over 5-1/2" long, and has a very slightly ambered but transparent visulated section with a very flexible F nib with good iridium.  The Gold Seal is intact and not drilled, and the pen has the "full metal jacket" cap band and non-roller clip typical of the later version of the Gold Seal model Doric.  The trim is all gold filled.  The cap band has some high point brassing, especially near the cap lip, and the clip has some brassing on the sides, but the fill lever has no brassing.  The pen barrel is professionally inscribed "Frank Monninger" in block italic letters, and the pocket clip has been bent out from the pen barrel but does look like it can be straightened.  This pen has some slight rounding of the panels near the bottom of the fill lever, where the cap was posted.  This pen doesn't have too many fine scratches, but does have 3 or 4 not large but visible dings and gouges here and there, primarily on the cap).

Next is a Wahl Doric Gold Seal fountain pen in black.  The pen is at least 5-5/8" long (biggest of the lot), and has a very, very slightly ambered but transparent visulated section with an adjustable M nib with good iridium.  The Gold Seal is intact and not drilled, and the pen has the "full metal jacket" cap band and non-roller clip typical of the later version of the Gold Seal model Doric.  The trim is all gold filled.  The cap band and fill lever have no visible brassing, but the pocket clip has some brassing on the sides.  There's no rounding of the panels where/if the cap was posted.  And this pen has no visible gouges nor dings, merely some fine scratches - clearly best of the lot for overall condition).

Last is a Wahl Doric Gold Seal model mechanical pencil of the later type, in black - very similar to the last pen.  The pencil is 5-5/16" long, and has gold filled trim.  It also has the "full metal jacket" band in the center and the non-roller clip typical of the later version of the Gold Seal model Doric.  There is no significant brassing of the trim, except some minor brassing on the high points of the pocket clip.  The tip of the pocket clip is engraved with 3 initials, which appear to be "MCV".  The pencil has no visible gouges nor dings, but has significantly more wear from use, in the form of fine scratches all over the pencil, to the point where the finish appears significantly less glossy.
